Finnish studio Act Normal Games has revealed the release date of the melancholic post-apocalyptic quest Rauniot, announced in October 2019. The announcement was accompanied by a gameplay trailer.
The events of Rauniot will unfold in 1975 in northern Finland. As a result of natural disasters, most of the continents were flooded, and the remaining areas were poisoned by nuclear power plants and warheads. Few survived.
Children are born mutants or die along with their mothers, and grief-stricken fathers become cannibals. Some, including the main character Aino, form groups for protection, food, water, medicine, electricity and knowledge.
As Aino, players will travel through the “beautiful landscapes” of northern Finland and solve many “intriguing puzzles” (some may have multiple clues).
The developers promise more than 70 detailed scenes, the ability to complete riddles in any order, an informative notebook with notes about the adventure, and support for the Russian language.
Rauniot is positioned as a classic representative of the point-and-click format with a “unique atmosphere of Finnish melancholy.” Finnish voice acting is announced (the only one available), including with a Northern Finnish accent.
As it became known, Rauniot will go on sale on April 17 this year exclusively for PC (Steam, GOG). The cost of the game at launch will be $18 (the ruble equivalent is not specified).
