Good news for Star Trek fans. After a long time in complete silence and without any news about it, we have finally learned that the fourth installment of the reboot saga is still alive. Of course, it seems that it will be the final chapter for the crew of this generation.
According to what the American media Variety has been able to tell exclusively, both Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot intend that Star Trek 4 be the final chapter of the cast that restarted the franchise back in 2009. Thus, the new installment will be the conclusion of a story that has been giving fans something to talk about for 15 years.
The long period of silence is apparently due to the difficulties in assembling the cast after Star Trek Beyond in 2016. The filmmakers who were offered the director's position ended up leaving the project to embark on other more ambitious works, such as the case of Matt Shakman, who abandoned this new film to direct The Fantastic Four.
Still, they have finally found at least the screenwriter: Steve Yockey. The writer was the main showrunner of the series The Flight Attendant, as well as a writer for many episodes of Supernatural. Unfortunately, the release date is unknown and production could be quite long, so we will have to wait patiently for new news from the production company.
