MSI released the Claw portable gaming system this month. Compared to similar devices such as ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, the new product stands out due to its platform – it uses Intel Core Ultra (Meteor Lake) processors. Now that the MSI Claw is officially on sale, it's possible to compare the two device configurations.
MSI offers the Claw with Core Ultra 5 135H and Core Ultra 7 155H processors. They have 14 cores/18 threads and 16 cores/22 threads, as well as integrated Intel Arc Graphics with seven and eight Xe cores, respectively. That is, “on paper” the iGPU performance of these processors differs insignificantly.
As independent tests have shown, the junior version of MSI Claw is not inferior to the top-end configuration in terms of gaming performance, and in some cases even surpasses it. Both options turned out to be weaker than ASUS ROG Ally with an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. In other words, today the “red” platform is better suited for this class of devices.
More information about the performance of the two MSI Claw configurations is available in the video.
