Notice: Spoilers del arco de Egghead de One Piece
Throughout One Piece we have seen characters who have reached absurdly high levels of power. Luffy, Kaido or Big Mom are some examples, but there is a group that goes much further and seems to be immortal: the Gorosei.
Los Five Elders of the World Government They have become the biggest enemies of the Nakamas in Egghead, and although throughout the series they have shown us their most villainous side, there is a theory that implies a common factor in all of them: Imu.
But before getting into the matter, let's put ourselves in context. The Gorosei is a group of 5 elders who control practically the entire world. They know everything that happened in the Empty Century and its mission is to keep the population away from this information. However, paradoxically, each of the members is inspired by characters with a totally different focus:
Saint Jaygarcia Saturn: inspired by Karl Marx, philosopher, creator of communism and defender of worker rights. Saint Marcus Mars: inspired by Itagami Taisuke, leader of the Freedom and People's Rights Movement and founder of the first political party in the history of Japan. Saint Topman Warcury: inspired by Mikhail Gorbachev, former president of the Soviet Union and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize during the transition of the USSR. Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro: inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, pacifist, politician, thinker and most prominent leader of the Indian independence movement against the British Raj. Saint Shepherd Ju Peter: inspired by Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the United States who abolished slavery.
All of them, in some way, sought people's freedom, but as can be seen in the series, this fight for the people is something unthinkable for them. Well, this theory explains that these elders, at some point in history, did seek this freedom for their people, but there was someone who took this thought away from them: Imu.
Apparently, these five elders would have lent their bodies and/or power to Imu in exchange for him leaving humanity in peace, something similar to what happened with Kuma and his mission to save Bonney. There is also the theory that Imu He tricked the Gorosei into working for him and thus, little by little, he would take away their humanity, turning them into his subordinates.
It is important to note that everything mentioned in this text is based on theories developed by fans of the series that have not yet been confirmed, although it is true that they are very well founded and could make sense in light of the information it offers us. Eiichiro Oda in the future.
