Developers from the Taiwanese studio Red Candle Games (Detention, Devotion) have announced the exact release date of their action platformer Nine Sols with an oriental flavor. The announcement was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer.
Let us remind you that Nine Sols was presented in the winter of 2021 and has since gone through a crowdfunding campaign – the proceeds reached NT$ 13.6 million (about $426 thousand), exceeding the original goal by 354%.
Initially, the release of Nine Sols was expected in the second quarter of 2023, but the premiere was repeatedly postponed: in a November address, the developers talked about plans to release the game in the first quarter of 2024.
As it became known, Nine Sols will go on sale on May 29 of this year for Steam. It was previously reported that the project is planned for release on Nintendo and Sony consoles, but there is not a word about them in the new announcement.
The events of Nine Sols will unfold in the world of Solarian, whose ancient gods long ago left mortals under the eternal protection of sacred rituals. In the story, the hero of the past, Yi, sets out to take revenge on the nine Sols, the rulers of a forgotten kingdom.
They promise a Daopunk-style setting (Taoism and cyberpunk), a responsive combat system, handmade environments and animations, interesting NPCs and interconnected locations with secrets. Russian language support is not declared.
Nine Sols is inspired by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Hollow Knight and Katana Zero. From FromSoftware's hardcore action game to Red Candle Games, the emphasis is on fending off blows in battles.
