Now the second major transaction as part of Embracer's restructuring has been made official: After Saber Interactive was previously sold, the floundering Swedish company is also separating from Gearbox Entertainment, as expected.
Unlike its Saber colleagues, Gearbox is not independent; in the future it will belong to another company with which there has been a long-standing relationship: Take 2 Interactive, which has always been the publisher of all the Borderlands games, is investing 460 million US dollars purchase price.
This means that Take 2 will include:
Gearbox Software (Frisco, Texas) Gearbox Montréal Gearbox Studio Quebec the rights to Borderlands and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands as well as Homeworld, Risk of Rain, Brothers in Arms and Duke Nukem
At Embracer, however, Gearbox Publishing (the former Perfect World Entertainment, which is now to be renamed again and integrated elsewhere in the group) retains the rights to Remnant and Hyper Light Breaker und noch ein paar Studios (Cryptic Studios, Lost Boys Interactive, Captured Dimensions).
