The announcement came with a simple post on Facebook. Gearbox, the studio that developed the Borderlands series and published it under the 2K label, was acquired by the latter and therefore becomes part of the large Take-Two Interactive family, the same as Rockstar Games.
Gearbox: “let's make the leap in quality”. Here is the official press release
In the post, the studio states that this new setup will allow it to ascend to the “next level.” The original in the image below. Below is our translation.
“Take-Two Interactive and 2K have repeatedly demonstrated confidence in our driving force as we generate creativity, happiness and profit. We raised the bar in the entertainment industry and achieved remarkable results with record-breaking games when – with 2K – we worked hand in hand. I'm pretty excited about what we can achieve now that we move as one body.” The words are by Randy Pitchford, founder of Gearbox Entertainment.
Gearbox is currently busy developing a new chapter in the Remnant series. Furthermore, in 2022 he promised new episodes of Tales from the Borderlands.
