Google could add a third model to its Pixel lineup, according to a new leak. This alleged high-end model would be called “Pixel 9 Pro XL” and would be placed higher in the hierarchy than the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro.
According to leaker OnLeaks, the two Pixel smartphones that were previously revealed were the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The new Pixel handset that was recently revealed in the new renders would therefore be the Pixel 9.
From what we know, Google has already released XL (test) variants, but they were discontinued with the Pixel 5. So this isn't a complete surprise either.
According to leaked photos, the Pixel 9 would indeed share the new design of its Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL counterparts. We notice the flat frame and the more rounded borders which would now extend to the screen. The back of the smartphone would also feature a new photo module island.

Furthermore, the Pixel 9 would have a smaller screen (6 inches) compared to the Pixel 8 (test) (6.2 inches). The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro would sport 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch panels, respectively. Overall, this indicates that Google would ditch the Pixel 8 Pro's 6.7-inch screen, representing a significant reduction in display area.

Despite the difference in screen sizes between the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, both were listed with comparable dimensions, with the smaller Pixel measuring 152.8 × 71.9 × 8.5 mm. This implies thinner bezels on the Pro model.
The Pixel 9 would be equipped with a dual photo module, which would most likely include a main photo and an ultra-wide angle. The previously revealed Pixel 9 Pro carried a triple camera setup similar to that of the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
As for the technical sheet, the Pixel 9 models would definitely be powered by the Tensor G4 SoC. All should run Android 15 when they launch in the fall. Finally, the pricing structure of the three handsets remains unknown.
