Relic Entertainment, which was sold to SEGA and became an independent company, released its own statement about the deal. Relic was believed to have had a management buyout; it turned out that this was not the case.
The buyer of Relic Entertainment was the investment company Emona Capital, which created a holding company specifically for the deal. The details of the deal have not been disclosed; we still don’t know how much the purchase cost and what Emona Capital’s plans are for Relic.
According to the studio itself, Relic Entertainment will continue to support already released games, including Company of Heroes 3. The company did not specify who got the rights to Relic games; perhaps they are still owned by SEGA.
Currently, Relic has no announced new projects, and insiders also haven’t said anything about the studio’s plans. If Relic was working on an unannounced game for SEGA, the studio will now likely turn into a contractor.
