The rumors circulated by the so-called insider have been denied Daniel Richtman through his Patreon profile. With some statements made to IGN, HBO made it known that Pedro Pascal has not finished his work as Joel on the set of The Last of Us season 2. The news that has spread around social media in the last few hours is therefore the result of either a misunderstanding or bad faith on the part of those who spread it.
The Last of Us: end of filming for Pedro Pascal? It's too early, reminds HBO
Spoilers about the plot of The Last of Us Part 2 (Naughty Dog, 2020) follow immediately after this image. The screenplay for season 2 of the HBO series broadcast on Sky Atlantic and Now TV is based on the game. Continuing reading might ruin the surprise for you.
The television serial, we remember, almost slavishly follows the plot put together by Naughty Dog. For the second season, the script edited by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann will draw heavily from the second chapter of the game. Those who have already tried it know perfectly well that at a certain point the character of Joel will leave the scene. The news of the 'end of filming' is therefore compatible with the plot facts already known.
What is perplexing fans, however, is the timing. Filming began very recently. To be precise, if Mazin's plans went as planned, the cameras only rolled on February 12th. A possible 'last take' for Pascal has already raised fears of a very limited screen-time, especially considering that the reels should continue rolling until this summer. HBO commented on the rumors describing them as “not very accurate”, suggesting that the actor is still busy on set.
Once his commitment to the series is over, Pascal is expected at Marvel where he will play Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic in the new adaptation of The Fantastic Four. He is the fourth actor to give a face to the elastic man after Ioan Gruffud (2005 and 2007), Miles Teller (2015) and John Krasinski (2022).
