The money is distributed among several studios.
Hasbro, which owns the rights to the Dungeons & Dragons universe, is investing $1 billion in the development of AAA games. The money is distributed among several Hasbro studios working on different projects.
Some of the games that Hasbro studios are working on take place in the DnD universe. There are games in new universes, and projects within other franchises owned by the company.
Part of the money will be received by the Archetype studio, which is led by the developers of the first parts of Mass Effect. Funds will also be allocated to the Canadian Invoke Studio, which is developing one of the games in the Dungeons & Dragons universe.
And here's another story
Speaking to GameSpot, head of digital product development Dan Ayoub notes that Hasbro's DnD games could be reminiscent of Baldur's Gate 3, also made under that license. But the point is not in the desire to copy a successful project, but in the very essence of the DnD rules.
All rights to Baldur's Gate 3 now also belong to Hasbro: Larian Studios transferred them to the company after refusing to work on the DnD universe. Hasbro is not yet ready to say whether they plan to create a sequel to Baldur's Gate 3 with another studio.
Baldur's Gate 3 isn't Hasbro's only successful gaming project. The record apparently belongs to Monopoly Go, which earned $2 billion and was also created under license from Hasbro.
