It seems as if Tom Cruise will never age: After the Hollywood high-flyer presented us with the spectacular successor to Top Gun almost two years ago, things continued just as quickly last year when “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning” hit cinemas has appeared. An impressive stunt from a cliff with a motorcycle caused a stir at the time because Cruise did the entire stunt himself. And the now 61-year-old doesn't seem to want to take a back seat for the next part of the “Mission Impossible” series, as the first pictures and a video from the set prove.
Is Mission Impossible 8 the final installment in the series?
Just last year, Tom Cruise gave us a sequel after the phenomenal sixth part of the “Mission Impossible” series in 2018. In keeping with the Hollywood strike at the time, it not only deals with artificial intelligence and its dangers, but of course also with saving the world we know.
“Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning” was actually planned as a two-parter, which is why the film also had the addition “Part 1” in its name when it was released in theaters. But for various reasons it was decided to change the title and shoot “Mission Impossible 8” independently of the seventh part.
However, it is still unclear whether this also means that the eighth part, the last film in the series, will be released in cinemas. Although “Dead Reckoning” wasn't particularly successful at the box office, that was also due to the strong competition from the mega-hits Barbie and Oppenheimer, which were running at the same time. Nevertheless, despite his advancing age, Tom Cruise doesn't seem to be deterred from continuing to make great action films, as new pictures and a video from the set prove…
Tom Cruise in his parade discipline
When you think of Hollywood star Tom Cruise, the image of a running action star immediately comes to mind. After all, the action star sprints around in 45 of his 53 films and has even made this trait his own in his Instagram profile. In addition to his jobs as an “actor” and “producer” there is also the addition “has been running in films since 1981”.
And that's exactly what he does in “Mission Impossible 8,” as new images and even a video show. Cruise can be seen on the set of the new film, running across a bridge in front of the impressive backdrop of Big Ben in London. But see for yourself:

Although the last part of the series wasn't exactly successful at the box office, these scenes still make you want more. In addition, another legendary film series starring Tom Cruise could soon be celebrating its return to cinemas. “Mission Impossible 8,” on the other hand, is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2025 after a long postponement due to the corona pandemic.
