Inspirations: mix of genres
Stellar Blade has been considered by some a kind of “korean nier”. The CEO of Shift Up commented on this definition, admitting that he is a fan of Yoko Taro. Although Nier Automata influenced the birth and development of Stellar Blade, he told us that There are many differences between the two games, starting right from the combat system. In reality, Stellar Blade is a sort of hybrid, with playful elements taken from different productions. For the creative, i Souls e Nier they are fantastic titles, and have been a great source of inspiration. Before we can establish the approach to use in battle from time to time, we will have to learn the attack patterns of the enemies, in order to understand the most effective way to react to their tactics and offensives. Regarding the duration of the adventure, the CEO of the development team has given important confirmations. Over the years, the appearance of EVE has changed several times and in the chat with the experts we discovered why. At first the team lacked the skills needed to make it look incredibly beautiful. From that moment on, various changes were made, also linked to the improvement of the face and hair. Among other things, if the user wishes, the game offers the possibility of customize EVE's appearance with many different hairstyles.
Origin of enemies
The CEO of the team explained to us that unlike what happens in many other productions, where the enemies are created with 3D modeling, the Stellar Blade ones were produced with handmade clay sculptures, given the high quality of the final result. Scanning these sculptures in 3D allows you to capture every single detail of the various creatures, and then proceed to create the animations and fight patterns. Shift Up has adopted this solution because it operates within its ranks one of the artists who worked on The Host, a Korean film directed by the director of the acclaimed Parasite. The author designed the creature that appears in the film and also works at Weta Workshop.
