Crimson Desert Switch 2 Version Has Been Confirmed And Launched

Developer Pearl Abyss revealed new details about the future of Crimson Desert in its latest financial report. In addition to confirming a playable version for Nintendo Switch 2, the studio is also introducing a possible multiplayer mode and live service elements to the game.

Crimson Desert has set impressive sales figures since its launch in March 2026 (an additional 2.11 million copies sold in the second quarter), and developer Pearl Abyss is optimistic about the future. As part of its recently disclosed quarterly numbers, company management provided insights into upcoming platform expansions and an assessment of further development of game content.

Nintendo’s plans for new hardware are particularly specific. As confirmed by Pearl Abyss, the Nintendo Switch 2 version is already in a mostly playable state. The studio placed great emphasis on ensuring that the graphics, action-packed combat system, and seamless open-world experience were transferred to the hybrid console without compromise. Although the final optimization phase is still underway, the developers are targeting a release in the first half of 2027. However, the company has ruled out a mobile version for now.

Additionally, Pearl Abyss is currently evaluating options for multiplayer expansion. Developers see huge potential for multiplayer content thanks to the dynamic game mechanics and vast game world. Against this background, the operating model of live streaming services is also being studied in depth. However, it’s unclear whether these experiments will be implemented as a new online mode for the main game or as a standalone project.

Along with the first story DLC already announced for late 2026, these announcements underline Pearl Abyss’ proposition to expand the Crimson Desert brand on a variety of systems over the long term and continually provide it with fresh content.
