Jez Corden recalled in his material that Microsoft is gradually returning exclusive games to its Xbox strategy. In particular, it has been stated that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will never appear on Playstation. But there is no firm information about future games yet. It’s possible that The Elder Scrolls 6 or Fallout 5 could become strong Xbox exclusives, given their number of fans, but whether Microsoft will take such a step is uncertain.
One of the arguments against exclusivity is the risk of losing the Playstation 5 audience that was ready to buy the game. The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 are expensive projects, so limiting sales could have a negative impact on their commercial performance. However, Corden noted that based on his information, Starfield was already profitable even before it was released on Playstation. According to him, a similar situation occurred with the Avowed. This shows that big projects can pay off, even if they’re Xbox exclusives, but that may be a weak argument for Microsoft looking to maximize profits.
On the other hand, Corden wrote that The Elder Scrolls 6’s exclusivity could become an important marketing tool for Xbox Project Helix. If the project does not appear on Playstation, some players may purchase a new generation console or Xbox Series X|S to be able to run games through cloud gaming. Corden also admitted that Microsoft may temporarily stop adding “The Elder Scrolls 6” to Game Pass Ultimate to increase sales at launch.
