Google is still not ahead of Apple, and the Pixel 11 smartphones feature a Tensor G6 processor, which is produced using 3nm technology instead of 2nm.

The first mobile processor manufacturer to adopt 2nm technology was Samsung, which released the Exynos 2600 chip; there were earlier hints that Google would become the second player in the industry. Last year’s Tensor G5 was produced using a 3nm process, and Tensor G6 may be developed using 2nm process technology. With the release of the Pixel 11 smartphone, Google did not provide detailed technical characteristics of the chip, but was limited to general performance indicators. Now, Google Vice President Peng Yuchun said in an interview with Taiwan media Central News Agency that the production of Tensor G6 uses improved 3nm process technology instead of the more advanced 2nm process.
There are objective advantages to transitioning to more advanced technological processes, but it is also a matter of prestige. Apple is expected to release the iPhone 18 Pro this year, equipped with a 2nm chip. Qualcomm has yet to do so, although unofficial sources suggest that the new flagship Snapdragon will be built on 2nm technology. If Google can reach 2nm with Tensor G6, it will be a huge success.
