In terms of starting full commercial operations of the passenger aircraft SJ-100, which completely replaced the imported aircraft, everything is progressing much more smoothly than the MC-21, so the first passenger flight will start relatively soon. To further confirm this trend, the press service of the Rostec state company report The company’s United Engine Corporation (UEC) provided the SJ-100 manufacturer with the first two mass-produced PD-8 engines.

Let us recall that the PD-8 and PD-14 were the first turbojet engines for civil aircraft developed in Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union, so the importance of their start of mass production for domestic aviation cannot be overestimated.
Of course, two engines are not enough, only enough to equip a mass-produced passenger aircraft. But in this case, the most important thing is to get started. Overall, we note that the demand for SJ-100 aircraft in the Russian domestic market is estimated to be in the hundreds. The same need exists for the MS-21 medium-range airliner. Therefore, it will take companies more than ten years to supply the Russian market alone, not to mention foreign markets. Foreign markets also need new and more cost-effective products than those dominated by Boeing and Airbus.
