Shortly before the release date, development studio GSC Game World released the latest video footage of the 2.0 update for STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl. A new overview trailer details numerous technical and content-related innovations that are available free to all owners of the base game. The update focuses on fundamentally revamping the lighting, improving the area’s artificial intelligence, and expanding the weapon arsenal and customization options.
Visually, the game benefits from the new version of the engine. Lighting modifications create more realistic shadows and reflections in buildings and underground areas. Revamped landscaping and vegetation give the game world a more organic look. Additionally, fog changes from a purely weather effect to a gameplay mechanic that limits visibility and hearing for players and opponents.
The A-Life system has also been significantly further developed. In the future, more dynamic encounters between stalkers and mutants will take place at central bonfires, bus stops, and other landmarks. A number of bug fixes under the hood also prevent enemies from shooting through walls or areas that are accidentally overpopulated. New model variants of well-known mutants (such as vampires) also provide visual variety.
To customize the gaming experience, Update 2.0 introduces custom rules. This allows players to fine-tune the difficulty level and choose between an easier survival approach or an extreme challenge. There are now three different types of binoculars available to explore, making it easier to scout locations and targets from a distance.
Four new weapons will be added to the arsenal, including the Arev assault rifle, GP3A and SKP sniper rifles, and the Fora-230 submachine gun. A unique variant of one of the weapons can also be found in this area. New aiming optics and expanded sight customization options round out weapon upgrades. Additionally, PDA has a new stats page to track your own progress.
Alongside the free update, the first major paid expansion, “The Price of Hope,” has also begun. The add-on content is dedicated to resolving the conflict between Responsible and Liberal factions and takes players to new areas such as the Iron Forest, Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the Space Bubble. Developers have the right to do things build a websiteplayers can choose the units they want through the quiz and participate in the competition.
