As the portal points out DSSO gamesGanaboy is preparing to publicly release a variant of its ambitious graphics modification for Dark Souls 3, the DS2LightingEngine, which recently gained support for path tracing.
Ganaboy demonstrated the current status of the project, using two starting locations in Dark Souls 3 as examples: the Grave of Ashes and the neighboring Temple of Fire (see video below) and the Walls of Lothric (video below).
Both films showed fans familiar landscapes in new ways. This is achieved through path tracing, realistic lighting and believable shadows, creating a rich atmosphere not present in the original game.
Audiences are delighted with the transformation of Dark Souls 3 and are looking forward to the upcoming game. “When the game finally loaded, my jaw dropped.<...> Great job my friend”– Compliments to modders Alo81.
According to Ganaboy, the level geometry in Dark Souls 3 is an order of magnitude more complex than that in Dark Souls 2. Meanwhile, system requirements will be similar to DS2LightingEngine (Nvidia RTX 20 series graphics cards and better).
A release date for DS3LightingEngine has not yet been determined. Meanwhile, modder gabdeg is working on modding the original Dark Souls in Prepare To Die Edition using the RTX Remix platform (path tracing is also in progress).
