The Last Update Before Alofts Full Launch Will Be Released

Publisher Funcom and studio Astrolabe Interactive have announced the release date for the last major update before the full version of Aloft. The update, titled “Discovery & Ancestry,” will launch on August 26, 2026, and will add new companions, expand the game world, and redesign the character development system. After that, the team will focus on preparing for the release of version 1.0, and the specific date will be announced by the developer later.

With the release of the update, Aloft will switch from the Unity 2021 engine to Unity 6, which will bring more opportunities for performance and visual improvements. At the same time, the open world, interface, progression and navigation systems will be redesigned.

A mysterious creature, the Wind Elf, will appear in the game. Players can make friends with it and travel with them. The satellite will also enable wind control. In addition, they will add new building elements and storage facilities, as well as an ancestral memory system through which characters will be able to learn the skills of their ancestors and gain new improvements. The ability to move between floating islands will also be expanded to increase the freedom to explore the world.

Aloft has received four major updates since the start of Early Access. The game now features bees, bats and frogs, new magical islands and more opportunities for ecosystem restoration. The author also added a system for creating your own puzzles and mechanics, three separate technology trees, new fungal infections, and advanced weapons.
