Official: Kylo Ren won't be resurrected in Star Wars

Lucasfilm president Dave Filoni has officially confirmed that the studio is not currently producing the canceled Star Wars: The Manhunt for Ben Solo. At the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23 2026, reporters asked the director directly about the fate of the project, and Filoni responded humorously, jokingly using Jedi mind control: “We’re not making the movie right now. That’s all I can say.”.

Interest in the film was revived after Adam Driver spoke about two years of working on the film with director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Rebecca Blunt before Disney shut down production.

Soderbergh himself called the studio’s decision “crazy” considering the years of work it took to complete it, and former Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy praised the project’s script. Fans tried to save the film through protests, but Soderbergh himself expressed doubts about the possibility of a re-release, noting that if it happens, it’s happened.
