Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have released a lengthy gameplay video for their upcoming action-adventure game Strangers from Paradise. The film provides in-depth coverage of the unique combat system, urban exploration, and changing historical eras.
The main feature of the combat in the game is the independent control of the protagonist’s left and right limbs, carried out through triggers.
“Weird in Paradise” spans five decades of Japanese history from 1915 to 1965. The storyline centers on Makoto Daito, whose father is American and mother is Japanese. After losing his parents at an early age, he secretly boarded a ship bound for Japan.
The action will take place in five different locations, inspired by real Japanese cities such as Kokura, Kure, Minami, Atami, and Shinjuku. Each chapter of the game corresponds to a specific historical period and introduces players to new crime syndicates and entertainment areas.
The protagonist has excellent musical talent, which is also reflected in the game mechanics. Players will be able to collect a variety of environmental sounds, such as the sound of train wheels, the rustle of brooms, and even the crashes of combat. Later, all these samples can be used to write your own original tracks in a special music editor.
“Stranger Than Heaven” is scheduled to be released on January 15, 2027. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam), and will also be added to the Game Pass subscription service library immediately.
