Behavior Interactive studio has talked about a new player intent system in asymmetric multiplayer horror game Dead By Daylight, which will allow survivors to quickly communicate their intentions to allies during a match. Players will be able to select pre-made messages via a radial menu, and their text will appear next to the sender’s name in the interface.
For example, use this system to notify allies that a player will repair a generator, offer to split up, or thank another survivor for healing. The available message sets can be configured in the Options menu. To prevent players from turning the system into an endless stream of notifications, there will be a delay between messages. If too many messages are sent in a short period of time, the number of messages will increase.
The developers note that player intent will not be a mandatory system, and players can disable it entirely in settings. Once disabled, users will no longer be able to send messages and will not see messages from other survivors. Individual players can also be muted to hide their notifications without shutting down the entire system.
Now the team continues to develop the system and collect player feedback. “Player Intent” is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2026.
