Just days before its shares began trading on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Unitree launched a high-speed robot called “Superman.” The robot’s launch coincides with growing investor attention for Unitree, which is expected to become the first general-purpose robot maker to enter the Chinese stock market.

According to news ReutersUnitree spent just over three months developing this new robot. During the test, the device demonstrated the ability to jump from a standstill to a height of two meters, and was also able to reach a maximum speed of 12.66 m/s, or approximately 45.6 km/h. At the same time, the company emphasized that the design is not yet complete and the robot may be further improved in the coming months.
The demonstration took place on Monday, just two days before Unitree shares began trading in Shanghai. Last week, the company raised 6.1 billion yuan ($905 million) in an initial public offering, with demand from private investors exceeding supply more than 8,000 times, setting a record on Shanghai’s professional stock exchange’s Science and Technology Innovation Board, which was created to support startups in high-tech, science and medicine.
Unitree’s debut received even more attention because the start of the deal coincided with the opening of the World Robot Conference in Beijing. The company is already internationally renowned for its humanoid robots that can run, dance and perform martial arts, with Unitree reporting that it had produced and shipped around 18,000 of these machines of various models as of the end of July. The company’s founder, Wang Xingxing, previously gained fame for attending Chinese President Xi Jinping’s summit, and also attracted influential technology companies Tencent, Alibaba and DeepSeek to support his new company.
