Bethesda has released a previously announced update for Fallout 4. Now available on all platforms including Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One. The update aims first and foremost to eliminate existing issues and improve the operation of mods and tools that create them.
The list of changes for the August 18 update to Fallout 4 is as follows:
- Limitations for BA2 archives have been increased. The maximum number of BA2 archives has been increased from 256 to 1024, which will allow the use of larger and more extensive modification collections.
- Localization has been fixed. Translation corrections were made to interface elements and terminology.
- The functionality of the Creation Kit on Playstation has been expanded. Playstation now supports archiving, and PlayStation Creations has added support for new file types: .nif, .dds, .bink, .cdx, .csg, .wav and .fuz (with .wav embedded). Bink files can also be added for download by binding the browser.
- Added localization export to Creation Kit. Developers have extended the Creation Kit tool by adding the ability to export localized data.
- Increased size limit for Xbox creations. You can now download creations up to 2GB on Xbox. Let’s remember that the Xbox Series X | S a few months ago increased the storage capacity of the module 50 times – up to 100 GB.
- The search and replace tool has been updated. This functionality is consistent with Starfield’s implementation. It adds “Select Form in Object Window” and “Open Form Editor” buttons.
- Crash fixed. Additionally, the developer stressed that bugs on Steam Deck, the PC version of the Microsoft Store, and during audio streaming should reduce crashes.
- Fixed navigation in the Authoring menu. After exiting a search while viewing a specific mod, players are now correctly returned to a page containing details about that mod. Mod sorting has also been improved.
- Improved Bethesda.Net error messages. Bethesda.Net service error messages now include error codes. These can be provided to support further investigation of this issue.
- Fixed resource duplication issue in build kits. Archiving plugins that use existing assets in a new form no longer creates duplicates of those assets.
- Fixed grass generation on terrain. Changes to materials or elevation maps in the creation toolkit now generate grass correctly.
- Game points have been updated. In Fallout 4, the list of development contributors shown in the game’s credits has changed.
