Before the Grand Theft Auto VI game is officially launched Appeared A massive leak has revealed important parts of the Leonidas map and many new mechanics. The materials were distributed by an unidentified insider under the name CYBERLEEK. Sources say the leaked recording refers to an older version from two years ago, so some elements shown may have changed or simply didn’t make it into the released version.
The biggest discovery was the map of Leonidas. According to the leaked information, the region is divided into five counties: Vice Dale, Mariana, Kelly, Leonard and Lummox. The map features Vice City, a swamp area, mountains, small islands, and an airport on a separate island in the southern part of the area. And most of the territory is concentrated in a large area of land surrounded by water.
Some new mechanics have also been noticed in the game. In particular, Jason’s stamina bar decreases during physical activity. In one, a character beats a car driver with a tire iron, after which his physical strength gradually declines.
Some players have linked the unknown icon next to Jason’s portrait to a possible honor or reputation system. The icon’s expression changes after the driver is attacked, and in another clip, after eliminating a police officer, a negative value appears nearby and a purple-cornered emoji image appears. However, the purpose of this mechanism has not yet been proven.
A redesigned search system also appears in the interface. Leaked finds can earn up to six stars and display three additional icons next to the desired level, similar to clothes, faces, and cars. It is believed they may be related to how police identify suspects. If the system really works this way, changing clothes or cars might help evade capture.
Another notable change is gear and weapon storage. Loadout and storage items appear near Jason’s car, and a limited selection of available weapons is displayed in the weapons wheel. This could mean that instead of carrying around an entire armory at once, characters will store portions of their gear in cars or other places. During one shot, Jason also picked up an enemy’s crowbar and was able to throw it.
Judging from the leaked information, interactions with characters are also becoming more situational. Before getting into an argument with the driver, Jason had two options: “Reconciliation” and “Warning.” These mechanics are reminiscent of the system for interacting with NPCs in Red Dead Redemption 2, although the exact rules in GTA 6 are unclear.
In some shots, the car’s interface shows damage and fuel indicators. At the same time, gas stations are visible on the minimap, which is why players think they need to refuel their cars. It’s unclear how important this system will be throughout the game, though.
The leak also contains many smaller details:
- Characters can have a trait system;
- There will be opportunities to play basketball;
- Money can be divided into cash and stored funds;
- Improve water physics and object interactions;
- Compared to GTA 5, driving a car seems more difficult;
- Evidence of ray tracing was observed;
- NPCs react significantly more positively to what is happening around them;
- Based on personal video, the police may be looking for a suspect in a specific area;
- Corpses now have “pick up” and “search” actions;
- When a car is stolen, you will encounter “Copy Keys” and “Break Window” options;
- Characters can choose hats;
- Certain areas are guarded and entry triggers a security response;
- Zombix tablets, from the interface point of view, can restore health, but the effect will be reduced after repeated use;
- Crimes can continue to be counted after the police leave;
- Jason is able to swim and dive underwater.
We will soon find out how close this information is to the truth. Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay is expected to be officially announced on August 27, 2026. The game will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19th.
