The Stop Killing Games (SKG) initiative issued an official statement on social media, severely condemning the hacker group that recently leaked the gameplay of “Grand Theft Auto 6” on a large scale. The attackers tried to cloak their actions with ideas of video game preservation and consumer protection, criticizing the industry for abandoning physical media and going digital.
Representatives of Stop Killing Games stressed that they are firmly opposed to the use of illegal means to steal and disseminate unfinished content of developers, as this is a blow to the industry and discredits the real fight for players’ rights.
Additionally, SKG expressed doubts about the sincerity of the hackers, noting that the leaks were accompanied by questionable fundraising and cryptocurrency promotion, and urging fans not to financially support the attackers.
