Bethesda has released the first major update for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in a long time. The update is already available on all platforms, and its release comes shortly after the release of a Fallout 4 update, in which the developers improved many aspects related to creation. Firstly, Skyrim’s update is also aimed at improving the handling of mod stores and increasing the ease of interacting with them, especially on consoles.

The main changes in the August 20th update for “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim”:

  • Increased mod storage space on Xbox and Playstation. You can now download modifications up to 15 GB.
  • Localization issues have been resolved. Various string fixes have been made, including UI elements and terminology.
  • Added description of reporting module. The build details page now displays instructions on how to report breaking or problematic modifications.
  • Added the ability to create combinations. The repository menu now supports merging multiple modifications into packages. Previously, the same functionality was implemented in Fallout and Starfield.
  • The creation store interface has been updated. Added support for Creations covers at 3640×900 and 900×506 resolutions, bringing the store’s look in line with Starfield and Fallout 4.
  • Added sorting by popularity. Creation categories can now be sorted by “Most Popular” to quickly find the most interesting modifications.
  • Improved bookmark functionality for WIP Creations. Mods marked as work in progress (WIP) will now appear in bookmarked creations.
  • The usage of master files has changed. The build toolkit now allows you to upload multiple master files at the same time by default. This setting can be changed if necessary.
  • Individual modifications can now have “Achievement Friendly” and “Trophy Friendly” status. This applies to mods from verified authors. These modifications won’t block achievements on Xbox or trophies on Playstation, but you’ll need to launch a new game after the update to use this feature.
  • Extension support in Creations. Bink files can now be added to downloads via a bundled browser. Additionally, Playstation now supports saving.
  • Fixed numerous issues causing Steam Deck to crash. Fixed a crash when opening the virtual keyboard on the Steam Deck, selecting an empty search result in the creation menu, and changing the character to a different race.
  • Fixed various creation issues. Free mods from verified authors now appear correctly in the appropriate category, and players are correctly returned to the page for the selected mod after exiting the search. Also fixed are the display of version and modification names, search strings, price updates during sales, and the autoloading of Mods in the Playstation 5th Anniversary Edition.
  • The creation store has been overall optimized. Various display and navigation issues have been fixed, and the store itself should load faster now.

The developers have also fixed many bugs in the modding tool. The full list of changes for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim can be found at: Bethesda website.
