The American analysis agency Circana is facing a serious data transparency crisis: as of July 2026, Xbox and Electronic Arts have officially stopped participating in the digital statistics exchange program.
Because today’s gaming market is almost entirely digital, analysts require data directly from platforms and publishers to produce accurate monthly reports.
Xbox’s refusal to share information not only hides the true sales of the company’s own projects – including major series like this call of Dutybut also makes it difficult to evaluate the results of other publishers who don’t share statistics. Independent experts fear a further deterioration in market transparency as the industry shifts to an all-digital model and large companies close off their policies, allowing publishers to manipulate financial statements with impunity.
