The famous anime branch of the cyberpunk universe is about to enter its next round. Developer CD Projekt RED collaborated with Japanese animation studio TRIGGER to release the latest footage of “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” and announced a global release date. From October 20, 2026, the latest production will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix. The sequel has ten episodes in total, telling an independent, brand-new story. The focus is on emotion and primal destiny, featuring themes of revenge, retribution, and the search for redemption.
The newly released trailer offers a fascinating insight into the plot and puts the spotlight on the interconnectedness between the newly introduced main characters. The main members are made up of people with very different personalities: most importantly, the fringe runner underdog formerly known as “The King” who, after a dramatic setback, is now forced to live without cyberware implants and find a new reason for existence in the shadow of his former fame.
Also receiving attention is D, an experienced cyberwalker from the snake nomadic tribe. He uses his technical skills to exact merciless revenge on the murderers of his entire family, uncovering dangerous corporate secrets in the process. The team consists of Roman, a young filmmaker who desperately searches for true stories in a city dominated by braindance and records the lives of others like ghosts. Beyond that, Talia, who originally grew up in the gleaming towers of megacorp but was hardened by the brutality of the Maelstrom gang, is now deeply rooted in a culture obsessed with violence and cyberware.
Under the artistic direction of Kai Igarashi, a dark family drama revolves around obsession and one’s own legacy.
