Radeon RX 9050 with 4 GB of memory only offers 64-bit bus and reduced cache

Memory deficits leave consumers frightened by increasingly bizarre grimaces. AMD has revealed details of a version of its Radeon RX 9050 graphics card with GDDR6 memory capacity reduced to 4 GB. This graphics solution not only cuts down on the memory bus, but also on the size of the Infinity Cache, which is also halved to 16 MB.

A comparison of the two modifications of the Radeon RX 9050 can be found at On AMD official websiteGuide resources ComputerBase.de. Both Radeon RX 9050 variants are identical in terms of GPU clock speed (2.6 GHz) and number of compute units (16). They have the same number of texture and rasterization units (64 each), but due to the reduced number of GDDR6 memory dies, the bus width is halved from 128 bits to 64 bits, and the bandwidth is proportionally reduced to 144 GB/s.

In addition, the amount of Infinity Cache memory is reduced by half, from 32 MB to 16 MB. It turns out that the performance of this version of the Radeon RX 9050 is affected in at least three ways, including a reduction in memory capacity. According to previously released information, the 4 GB memory version of the graphics card will only be available as part of a finished PC and should not be available in a retail version. However, all these limitations will sooner or later be overcome by the players in the transaction chain, so you can monitor with some enthusiasm the possibility of such a display card entering the retail market.
