Duskblood’s closed network beta, scheduled for today, has been plagued by a number of issues. So From Software pulled the paracord for now.
Interested gamers have been waiting for weeks for From Software’s new game, Twilight Blood, to enter closed network testing on the Nintendo Switch 2. Today I finally got what I wanted, but in the end everything was completely different.
The testing phase was plagued by various issues, particularly with regard to server infrastructure. Result: At the beginning of the beta phase, players often make futile attempts to somehow log into the game. Instead, they received the error message “Unable to log in to The Duskbloods game server. Select OK to try logging in again.”
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to players waiting for the first online test of Duskblood due to game server issues. We regret to inform you that today’s meeting has now ended. We continue to work on server improvements and will announce…

Anyone who clicks “OK” to confirm this message will encounter a loading screen that lasts a few minutes before the message pops up again. Since the issue could not be resolved, From Software announced via social media two hours after the actual launch that they would be canceling the test session and closing the beta phase due to server issues.
The frustration for interested gamers is certainly huge, but from From Software’s perspective, the whole thing may not be that serious. After all, the purpose of such network testing is to identify and eliminate network infrastructure problems at an early stage, preferably before the video game officially begins.
It remains to be seen what will happen in Duskblood’s further testing phases.
