The authors of the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything conducted another series of thorough tests on the foldable smartphone Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold. It’s stronger than last year’s model, which had a smoky battery, but it’s still not as durable as other manufacturers’ foldable devices.

Like all previous models, the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold still broke under strong reverse bending, and again completely along the antenna line. While Google did improve the overall durability of its devices this year, the same mistakes keep repeating themselves. The outer screen’s ceramic coating showed virtually no scratches with a No. 6 Mohs hardness tester, but it left some pretty deep grooves with a No. 7 tester. The internal folding screen succumbed to the impact of a No. 2 hardness tester and couldn’t even withstand the scratches of a fingernail. The “fiberglass composite” back panel is actually just tough plastic and can easily be scratched with a knife.
In the reverse bend test, the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold was literally shredded with bare hands. No tools required: the front panel comes off on its own and the back panel easily peels off. Given that Google refreshes the design of its Pixel smartphones every two or three years, it might be time to address the glaring flaws of existing devices.
