As early as the end of June, there was news that Xbox plans to launch a disc-to-digital feature, which will allow players who own game consoles to convert their physical media libraries into digital media libraries. Details of how the feature will work have surfaced before, and it’s expected to launch in July. But while Microsoft has reached out to partners and announced the new feature is coming, its public rollout has yet to take place.
Gamers have now discovered symbols in Microsoft’s font library that may be related to the disc-to-digital functionality. Users report the presence of two icons Reddit Nicknamed Morich. These symbols depict discs combined with elements that can indicate the conversion of physical media to digital licenses.
However, it’s not entirely clear when these elements were created. They represent characters in the Windows TrueType “Xbox Fluent v2 Regular” font, which itself was released in 2021. This font is based on the Wingdings principle, where each key on the keyboard is not a regular letter, but a small picture or symbol – which the computer sees as a regular font but displays the graphical elements to the user. According to one Reddit user, the font was discovered by a friend of his who tracked leaks on the Microsoft Store. Meanwhile, he posted the font itself in the comments on Reddit.
Microsoft has yet to comment on the leak. Insiders expect the feature to enter testing as soon as August.
