The large-scale “Grand Theft Auto 6” gameplay leak incident initiated by a user with the pseudonym Cyberleek has reached the level of official corporate interaction. Xbox Chief Technology Officer Scott Van Vliet issued a statement confirming that the company is working closely with Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games to protect intellectual property rights.
This comment was made in response to a DMCA subpoena approved by a New York court requiring Microsoft and Discord to turn over account data, IP addresses and internal investigative reports related to Cyberleek’s identity.
Although the wording of the statement is strictly legal and avoids direct accusations, it is clear that the tech giant intends to assist publishers in finding the source of the leaks. Meanwhile, the gaming community is waiting with bated breath for Netflix to officially extend the game’s reveal, which should prevent spoilers.
