Focus Entertainment to publish racing game CLUTCH from former Forza Horizon developer

Maverick Games has announced a partnership with Focus Entertainment to publish the open-world racing game CLUTCH. The project plans to release the PC version in the spring of 2027 (steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Maverick Games was founded by Mike Brown, who served as the creative director of Forza Horizon 5. The new studio also includes other developers with experience working on the Forza series. For Focus Entertainment, the project will be a first in the open world racing genre.

The game is based on the story of a new generation of racers leading double lives. During the day they compete in professional racing competitions, and at night they dive into the underground world of racing, fighting for their reputations and escaping persecution.

CLUTCH is written by Jamie Brittain, co-creator of the British TV series Skins. The developers placed great emphasis on the cinematic presentation of the characters and story. The game will also feature a deep car customization system related to character development and play style.

Vincent Chatenier, deputy CEO of Focus Entertainment Publishing, said: “At Focus, we strive to partner with authors who are redefining their genres. Mike Brown and his team are considered one of the most creative voices in the racing genre, and CLUTCH embodies exactly the kind of creative ambition that Focus Entertainment wants to support.”

“We founded Maverick Games to create the open-world racing game we’ve dreamed of for years,” said Mike Brown, founder and CEO of Maverick Games. “Focus shared with us our creative standards and ambitions for CLUTCH, and we can’t wait for players around the world to explore the world.”
