As part of the opening ceremony of Gamescom, publisher Ubisoft made an unexpected announcement. The company has launched a new game in the Rainbow Six series, a project made in the tactical genre of turn-based combat.
The game, called Rainbow Six Tactics, combines turn-based combat and strategy elements. The project is inspired by XCOM but uses familiar mechanics from the Rainbow Six series – operators, drones, gadgets, environmental destruction and indoor attack systems.
The story of “Rainbow Six: Siege” takes place in the “Rainbow Six: Siege” canon. After a series of attacks on various units around the world, the Rainbow Organization became active again under the leadership of Paul Bishop (known to players of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2). The main enemies will be the Keles Legion, and Rainbow Agents will fight them again.
During the course of the game, players will be able to use the drone for reconnaissance, plan squad operations, conduct attacks, and use the operator’s unique abilities. Destroying the environment allows you to directly change the situation during combat. The developers also emphasize that there will be no microtransactions and no paid in-game store.
Rainbow Six: Tactics will be released in 2027 on Xbox Series X | S, Playstation 5 and PC. The game retails for $49.99.
