Gaijin Entertainment and Matter Team have announced the release date for action shooter Active Matter on a new platform. The game will be released on PC on September 15, 2026 steamas well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Users who previously purchased the game through the Gaijin store will receive the corresponding version for free on Steam.
Active Matter takes place in an alternate version of the familiar Earth location, where reality is disrupted by gravity anomalies and other strange phenomena. Locations include a closed island in the Soviet Union, a quarantine zone in Central Africa, and a dilapidated city in North America. Players will search for active materials, collect loot, and fight monsters and other agents.
“The main idea of Active Matter is to send players to places on Earth where, except for weapons, almost nothing will behave as you expect. Now we are ready to invite players into the world we have created and improved over the past few years,” said Andrey Zhbannikov, Game Director of Active Matter.
Ahead of its release on the new platform, the developers will release a major update that will include new locations for collapsing American cities and new weapons. In the future, the team plans to regularly add new content and expand the range of available locations.
