PlaySide Studios has named a new release window for Game of Thrones: Battle for Westeros, a real-time strategy game set to release in spring 2027. Meanwhile, the developer showed off the full gameplay trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The game was announced for PC only and will be sold in a premium model.
This is already the second handover of the project. This version was originally planned to be released in 2026, but was later postponed to early 2027. The developers decided to spend extra time improving pathfinding, collision system, and multiplayer balance.
Players will face four conflicting parties: the Starks led by Jon Snow, the Lannisters led by Jaime Lannister, the Targaryens led by Daenerys Dragon, and the undead army commanded by the Night King. On the strategic map, you will manage castles, resources and diplomacy, and conflicts between armies will transform into real-time tactical battles.
Battles revolve around units commanded by heroes with special abilities. Terrain features and conflict dynamics will play a role, and battles will take place in familiar Westerosi locations – from King’s Landing to the Wall.
