NC Company has released a new video for the MMORPG “Aion 2”, the global version of which will be released on October 5. In the video, the developers explain how they aim to create “something new in the genre” by solving problems that have plagued players for decades.
Frankly, we have no idea what the hell was being discussed because they didn’t say anything concrete beyond empty slogans. Apparently, the “solution to the problem” is the same as some paid battle pass and access to the auction only via subscription.
Key Features: Free to explore
The core of the game is complete freedom of movement. Players can fly and visit anywhere: in the sky, on the ground, or even under the sea. Everything visible around you is achievable. This isn’t just a giant empty world, but a space with no limits, where exploration becomes a real adventure, giving it a true open-world feel.
A new perspective on altitude and flight
In other games, high points are just landmarks or beautiful views. You can also play AION 2 in places like this: There are activities and missions. This greatly expands the possibilities for exploration. Special attention is paid to the sense of speed during flight. In order to allow players to truly feel the movement, special elements have been added: “eight” (airways), airflow and circles that accelerate flight. During combat, it is now possible to observe the battlefield from above – this opens up new tactics and non-standard solutions in combat.
Content for different types of players
The developers took care of everything:
- For those who love difficulty, there are high-level challenges here that give you the thrill of overcoming and progressing.
- Ideal for those who prefer quiet gameplay – gathering resources, collecting monsters and other activities at your own pace.
Artistic and technical execution
The art director said traveling through Atreya’s world should be a powerful experience in itself. They want players to:
- Encountered stunning scenery while exploring.
- We discovered unexpected places underwater.
- We get a bird’s eye view of a familiar world in a whole new way.
The main goal is to keep players asking the question: “What’s out there?” – and the desire to explore further. The technical director added that this was possible thanks to new rendering technology:
- Draw more objects on the screen.
- Create natural shadows in a vast world.
- Realistically convey lighting that changes with time of day and weather.
Solo and group content
The game has two activities: single player game and group game. At the same time, the group content is designed so that it doesn’t create unnecessary tension – you can play in a group without having too much responsibility for other people. The developers plan to closely monitor pacing and playstyle after launch to decide when to release updates.
Special focus on global releases
As the game is released globally, the team will analyze data and feedback from players in different regions to develop an update plan suitable for a global audience.
The developers are excited to showcase the game to a global audience. Audiences are encouraged to wishlist the game on Steam and participate in the massive beta, which will take place on September 17th and 18th. The game is expected to be released in October.
