Developer Eschatology Entertainment and publisher 4Divinity have unveiled the latest footage for Guns of Eschaton to the public. The project is billed by the creators as the first full-fledged “Souls-like first-person shooter” and takes you into a frontier region overrun by dark monsters. The latest gameplay trailer gives you a closer look at the demanding gunplay, targeted management of ammo, and dangerous encounters with enemy creatures. The game is scheduled to be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S via Steam later in 2026.
In Gun of Doom, you take on the role of a nameless cowboy, donning evil black robes and riding through a dying, decaying environment. The border areas are overrun by brutal mutants and monsters, and they must be eliminated by force. The visual design relies on an uncompromisingly dark graphic style that emphasizes the desolation of the environment and the constant threat to life. An ominous narrator guides the events and narratively outlines the protagonist’s desperate journey.
The focus of the scenes shown is the unique combat system from the first-person perspective. The game requires you to precisely manage your ammunition supply and aim accurately during combat. Enemy creatures and bosses have specific attack patterns designed to disrupt your aim and cause shots to fail. Due to the high difficulty level, almost any misstep can lead to death, so timing of dodging and shooting is crucial.
In keeping with the direction of the Souls-like genre, the game features a complex resurrection mechanic. If you lose a battle, you’ll be resurrected at certain points in the game world to try again. The combination of fast revolver duels, tactical use of cover and tough boss fights is designed to keep the shooter genre fresh.
