Rockstar Games has revealed the gameplay of the third-person action game “Grand Theft Auto IV” for the first time. The presentation, titled “Extended Perspectives,” takes place near August 27 and includes Jason and Lucia’s storyline, shootouts, robberies, police chases, Vice City exploration, and tons of activities outside of the main mission. Gameplay was recorded on a base PlayStation 5.

The first episode of the game focuses on Jason and Lucia, who go to a meeting as part of a criminal job. The heroes enter a residential building and head upstairs, where the situation quickly spirals out of control. A shootout with the police begins and Jason and Lucia must fight their way out of the building.

In this scene, Rockstar shows off the updated combat system. Shooting comes with more noticeable recoil and character reactions to hits, while hand-to-hand combat has stronger physics. At certain moments, time slowdown is used, allowing you to deal with your opponent more accurately.

After the tense scene, the demo switches to a calmer scene. Jason waits in the apartment for Lucia to get ready for her meeting. He can interact with his surroundings, check the refrigerator and perform common household activities. When Lucia finally comes out, Jason compliments her outfit.

The heroes then go to a party where they meet new characters. Rockstar shows that Jason and Lucia’s relationship extends beyond story scenes. They can walk hand in hand, act together when committing crimes, and assign roles depending on the situation.

During a demonstration, Lucia sat behind the wheel while Jason opened fire on pursuing police cars and helicopters. Judging from the scenes presented, the story begins with the heroes just getting used to the criminal industry and gradually coming into contact with more serious tasks.

The police in Grand Theft Auto 6 have other ways of dealing with criminals. In the displayed information, law enforcement officers can note the suspect’s clothing and appearance. The protagonists can split up to make the search more complicated, and you can escape from the car in order to evade capture. Game footage also shows that some cars can be stolen in a variety of ways, including breaking windows or using tools to pick locks.

Much of Rockstar’s film is about Vice City and its surrounding areas. In addition to story missions, Jason and Lucia can swim, play sports, skydive, compete in races, visit clubs, drive a variety of vehicles, and perform petty robberies. The game also includes diving, airplanes, and swamp terrain.

Collaboration with the environment also attracted attention. Characters interact with numerous objects, and clothing, equipment, and body physics react to what’s happening. In one scene, you can see day-to-day interactions in an apartment, and during active episodes, Rockstar shows off plenty of little animations.

In the final part of the show, the heroes find themselves at a party, working as security for a wealthy client. The heroes are separated before the situation escalates into an armed conflict again. At this point, Rockstar was engaged in another lengthy battle. Jason uses a gun, while Lucia is forced into hand-to-hand combat without a weapon.

Vice City’s nighttime version also received a demo. The shots feature detailed reflections, street and interior lighting, and a high density of objects and people. The minimap is now 3D and takes into account the height of buildings and routes.

GTA 6 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
