ARK Astraeos gets major update, including underwater city and battle with Kraken

Studio Wildcard has released Heaven & Abyss, a major update to the paid Astraeos add-on for the ARK: Survival Ascended survival simulator. This update expands the map in the style of ancient Greek mythology and adds new territories, ships, dynamic weather, creatures, and several major battles.

The Astraeos expansion pack was released in February 2025, giving players a map of over 264 square kilometers. With the release of Heaven and Abyss, new areas have appeared, from floating islands to deep-sea locations. In Helianthos, players will find lush plains, peaceful creatures, and islands floating high above the Earth. On the other side of the map is Abyssanthos, a mist-shrouded area of deep sea where giant bubbles surround a mysterious underwater city. Large bases can be created within these spaces.

The Astraeos ocean is also getting new mechanics. Players take control of an ancient Greek trireme, surfing the waves and facing changing weather conditions. Storms and dynamic waves make sea travel a separate part of map exploration.

One of the new creatures is Boratos, a giant, aggressive boar that can be defeated or tamed. For fans who like a good challenge, we’ve prepared two battles with the Kraken. One takes place underwater and the second takes place on the surface. The mini-bosses Colossus and Claratos also appear. After defeating them, players will receive the Astral Soul and new items, including Agamemnon’s Helm, the Three-tiered Battleship Chair, Boratus’ Spartan Saddle, the Divine Shield, the Divine Spear, and the Divine Sword. Among other things, the patch adds new building options and expands the map’s content.

To celebrate the release of Heaven & Abyss, the Astraeos expansion pack is now available for purchase at: steam 67% discount, price 492 rubles.
