The survival sequel “State of Decay 3” continues to make progress: the game is scheduled to enter the beta testing phase this year.
Things have been quiet about State of Decay 3 for a while, and despite Microsoft’s massive layoffs at Xbox and Undead Labs’ departure from Xbox Game Studios, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes regarding the survival sequel. The game has been in closed beta since May and is expected to enter beta this year.
In May, the development team accepted participants for alpha playtesting, and over time, more players will have the opportunity to take a closer look at State of Decay 3 before its actual release. Internal testing is planned to take place before the end of 2026.
The beta testing phase should also provide new content and improvements to discover. Details on this are still awaited, but various optimizations in combat, action, and graphics will likely be introduced compared to the alpha version. Feedback from the community during the early testing phase was also evaluated.
The development team stated: “Over time, we will expand the player base for alpha and subsequent closed beta phases; this is our largest map yet, and considering the multiplayer mode has no spatial connection between players (‘unlimited multiplayer’), we absolutely need to take this opportunity to test the system at full load and fine-tune it.” Xbox line.
