One of the surprises at Gamescom 2026 was the announcement by HoYoverse of a new project called Nodusfall. To the creator, the game looks completely atypical Genshin Impact, No Zen Zone and Honkai Impact: Star Trail: Instead of a bright anime style, players are greeted by a gloomy landscape with a dark fantasy spirit, reminiscent of FromSoftware’s creations, with cooperative battles against giant monsters and a distinct atmosphere monster hunter.
The bigger surprise is that the studio abandoned the usual gashapon mode. According to the developer’s official FAQ, there will be no random character drops in Nodusfall – all heroes can be earned honestly during gameplay, and monetization is based entirely on the sale of cosmetic skins.
The project, which focuses on up to four-player PvE co-op (with optional PvP and PvPvE elements), has been in development for two years and was created exclusively for PC. It doesn’t yet have an exact release date, but it has managed to subvert the usual philosophy of HoYoverse games.
