A lot of information about Grand Theft Auto VI has appeared on the Internet. They were all recorded on the Playstation 5 console under a marketing agreement between Sony and Rockstar.
The developers themselves have yet to specify how GTA 6 will work on consoles. Content creator Davy Jones was invited to the studio by Rockstar to record a preview, Tell During Flow Games’ broadcast, when the game demo was shown to him, there was an FPS counter on the screen. According to him, he demonstrated the project running at 30 frames per second. He has since asked development lead Rob Nelson directly if the game would have 60 FPS, despite being played on a Playstation 5 Pro. He did not give a definite answer, saying that he needed to consult the Rockstar technical team.
All Grand Theft Auto VI game demos released online run at 30 FPS. From this point of view, the frame rate of Xbox Series X will obviously be limited to 30 frames per second. Meanwhile, all authors of the preview pointed out that the game itself looks very detailed – Rockstar showed off a large open world, high density of objects and characters, complex lighting, and many events happening simultaneously. Against this backdrop, even Digital Foundry doesn’t think you should expect a full 60 FPS mode on Xbox Series X. There is no information about 40 FPS yet.
The situation with Xbox Series S is even less clear. Rockstar and preview authors have yet to make any statements regarding GTA 6’s operation on this console. Given the significant performance degradation and reduced RAM, developers will have to significantly expand Grand Theft Auto VI to run on this console. Technicians expect to achieve a stable 30 FPS by reducing environmental quality, resolution, graphics, and other compromises.
Let us remind you that Grand Theft Auto VI will be available for pre-load on Xbox Series X | S on November 12th, with a release date of November 19th. The size of the game itself has yet to be determined.
