Paradox Interactive has released another update for the Hearts of Iron IV open beta. Developers are experimenting with theories and characteristics of armored vehicles, troops, and fixing calculation errors and expanding opportunities for modders.

The main focus of this patch is tanks. Different generations of chassis now have different bonuses to modded attacks, and certain equipment characteristics can be scaled based on reliability. In this way, developers hope to increase the value of more modern vehicles while making reliability indicators less useless when designing armored vehicles.

These changes also affect specialized options. For tank destroyers, self-propelled anti-aircraft guns and artillery, breakthrough penalties have been standardized, and some vehicles have also received protection bonuses. At the same time, individual tank mods were redesigned: rocket launchers became more effective, while ease of maintenance received less generous bonuses. Additional modifications were made to cavalry, motorized infantry, mechanized troops, artillery and other units.

Ground orders, air techniques and special projects have also been adjusted. At the same time, the developers improved the calculation accuracy of power, logarithmic and exponential functions, which is especially important for modifications. The author emphasizes that most of the innovations are still in the experimental stage and may not yet make it into the main version of the game.
