The developers of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition continue to introduce players to the new Danish civilization in the additional content Viking Saga. Northerners will focus on infantry and siege weapons, and their economy will benefit greatly from fishing, gathering, and destroying enemy structures.

Fishing boats and farmers will hand over more food, and it will cost less gold to upgrade barracks and siege factories. Additionally, for each destroyed building, the Danes will be able to gain a portion of the resources the enemy spent building the building. The movement speed of Varangian Guards and Dragoons will be increased, and the vision range of siege engines will be expanded.

The main strike force will be the Varangian Guards. These melee fighters will bring money directly into the fight and become especially dangerous during raids. As they lose health, they will be able to deal more damage. The unique Vikings were also great for raiding: warriors armed with spears and shields capable of throwing torches at enemy buildings and ships.

Unique technology further enhances the Dane’s aggressive style. Hamask increases damage as infantry loses health, while Northerner’s Wrath increases the effectiveness of siege engines and ships against structures. The image of civilization will be completed by a castle inspired by the fortifications of Danevirke, Trelleborg and Jomsborg, as well as a wonder of the world in the form of the legendary world tree Yggdrasil.
