PlayStation fans can mark their calendars for next Thursday: Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced two new “State of Play” releases, which will be live streamed back-to-back on September 3, 2026. The main show starts at 3 p.m. Germany time, before the detailed look at Final Fantasy 7: Revelations ends, there will be new announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party manufacturers. Following this, “State of Play Japan” premieres, focusing on Asian development studios.
The upcoming double show will bring a wealth of programming to all PlayStation 5 owners and fans of Japanese gaming culture. The first major global event focuses on a diverse mix of global works. In addition to PlayStation Studios’ previously announced long-awaited updates for the first-party game, viewers can also look forward to surprising news from various partner publishers.
However, the highlight and official ending of the first stream belongs squarely to Square Enix. As we learn more about Final Fantasy VII: Revelations, the developers hope to provide deeper insights into the gameplay, world, and story of the game and further fuel fan expectations.
Immediately afterwards, the special edition “State of Play Japan” continued without a long break. This independent exhibition format intentionally places a spotlight on the creativity of development studios in Japan and across Asia. You can expect exclusive gameplay scenes, detailed insights into ongoing projects, and the latest announcements from Asia’s established industry giants and up-and-coming independent teams.
For international viewers, the Japanese live broadcast will of course be accompanied by English subtitles.
