Studio 1047 Games has officially announced the end of active development and support for two of its online projects – recent high-speed shooters Empulse (released two months ago) and Splitgate: Arena Reloaded. Developers admit that the games don’t generate enough revenue to cover the costs of renting and maintaining dedicated servers.
The dedicated servers and matchmaking system will be shut down on September 3rd. At the same time, work on the project will not stop – the developers will integrate a P2P system (peer-to-peer), which will allow players to independently host matches, find lobbies and continue playing with friends. Before switching to P2P, the game will receive a farewell patch with new maps, and regional prices on Steam will be permanently reduced.
The studio itself will continue to operate, but its focus is changing dramatically. The author made it clear that they may have completed the arena shooter and their next project “might look completely different than what fans expected.”
